Free stopovers from Iceland Express

Iceland Express is offering free Reykjavik stopovers for those travelling to New York.

The New York service is new from the airline this summer and the free stopover deal gives passengers the chance to see the sights of Iceland’s capital city and enjoy a free night’s accommodation before flying on to the bright lights of the Big Apple.

The low-cost carrier’s service from London Gatwick is priced from £267 and ceo
Matthias Imsland said: “Our route to New York is an extremely exciting step for us and is an opportunity for the UK market to enjoy a low-cost trip to New York. The stopover is an extra bonus, which will allow passengers to see Iceland for themselves and enjoy two dream destinations in one trip.”

Iceland Express’ new service, which connects Reykjavik with New York’s Newark International Airport, will launch on June 1 and will operate four times a week.

Accommodation is based on two people sharing a room in a Reykjavik hotel and additional nights are available from just €65. Bookings must be made a minimum of four weeks in advance of the departure date.

In June 2010, Iceland Express will also launch flights from Birmingham to Reykjavik, and Reykjavik to Winnipeg, Canada.
