Continental plans more on UK-New York route
Continental Airlines is to increase its schedule of flights between London Heathrow and its New York hub, Newark Liberty International Airport, during 2010.
The airline will add a fourth daily service to the route next month (March) and a fifth daily service in October, bringing the number of Continental daily departures from Heathrow to seven, including its twice-daily service to Houston.
The new March service, which starts on the 28th, will see the airline introduce an early-evening departure from Heathrow to New York/Newark for the first time.
In addition, effective June 2, all Continental flights departing Heathrow will feature new, flat bed seats in BusinessFirst, its business-class cabin. The new BusinessFirst Flat Bed Seat made its operational debut in November 2009 and is being installed on Continental’s Boeing 777 and 757-200 fleets, with installation on 767-400ER and 767-200ER aircraft beginning in 2011.
Newark Liberty International Airport is 16 miles/25 kilometres from downtown Manhattan. The airport offers the fastest surface transfer journeys to many parts of the city, including the AirTrain service to New York Penn Station in midtown Manhattan, with a journey time of less than 30 minutes.
Passengers arriving at New York from Heathrow can connect with Continental flights to more than 200 destinations throughout the Americas, including more than 100 served non-stop.
