Fairmont Washington DC has new energy
The Fairmont Washington, DC has launched a programme that will eventually see it ‘offsetting’ 100 per cent of its electricity use.
The 415-room hotel has signed a three-year contract with Renewable Choice Energy to supply it with over 9.5 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of renewable energy credits (RECs) generated by wind farms across America.
The hotel estimates its commitment to support renewable energy development and reduce carbon emissions will have an impact similar to planting 42,982 mature trees, or not driving more than 10.5 million miles in an average passenger car.
The hotel is located in Washington’s fashionable West End and adjacent to historic Georgetown.
