Papillon gives a dam

Papillon Airways has incorporated ground tours into its new Hoover Dam helicopter tour.

Now starting at $154, the Hoover Dam Helicopter Tour includes a low level air tour of the historic monument from inside a deluxe EC-130 Eco-Star helicopter allowing guests to view this 726 ft engineering marvel.

The tour flies over Lake Mead, America’s largest man-made reservoir, the tributaries of the Colorado River and the beautiful Black Canyon before returning.  From there, guests will be taken by shuttle to walk around and go on an interior tour of Hoover Dam showcasing its power plant and history.

Tours depart daily from either Papillon’s Las Vegas or Boulder City terminals. Tours include transfers to and from all major Las Vegas resorts. Tour duration is approximately two hours without transfers or 4.5 hours with transfers.

The Colorado River Bridge is the central portion of the Hoover Dam Bypass project that began in January 2005 and is expected to be completed at the end of 2010.  When finished, the 2,000 ft bridge will span the Black Canyon, connecting the Arizona and Nevada approach highways.
