Universal’s Harry Potter ride will take to the air on June 18
Universal Orlando Resort’s much-awaited Wizarding World of Harry Potter will have its grand opening on June 18.
The latest of Florida’s theme parks is made up of three themed attractions: Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Flight of the Hippogriff and Dragon Challenge.
The ‘immersive’ action experience is being billed as the first-ever theme park attraction to combine live action, advanced robotic technology and innovative film-making.
Guests get to enter Dumbledore’s office, where they meet the headmaster of Hogwarts, before being invited into the Dark Arts classroom, where they meet Harry, Ron and Hermione, who convince them to skip a lecture and follow them.
All guests accept and then travel by Floo powder to begin an adventure that sees them soar over Hogwarts. On the journey they narrowly escape a dragon attack, have a close encounter with the Whomping Willow, and get pulled into a Quidditch match and more.
“As they live their adventure, guests will feel things no one has ever felt inside a theme park attraction, move in ways no one has ever moved, experience film like no one else ever has, explore vast sets punctuated by amazing special effects – and have an adventure only possible in Harry Potter’s world,” said Mark Woodbury, president of Universal Creative.
The new attraction lies deep within Hogwarts castle, a soaring structure that towers over The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
