Visitors flock to US winter sales
Visitor numbers to the US were on the rise in January, the 3.4 million international visitors representing an increase of 10 percent over the same month in 2009.
The figures, released by the U.S. Department of Commerce, marked the fourth-straight month of increases in U.S. arrivals.
International visitors spent $10.3 billion during the month, three per cent less than in January 2009.
The top three ports (Miami, New York JFK, and Los Angeles) accounted for 40 percent of all overseas arrivals,
Visits from the United Kingdom dropped five percent in January.
