The Backlot’s back in Hollywood

This summer will see the re-opening of Universal Studios Hollywood movie studio lot following reconstruction to last summer’s fire damaged four acres.

It will also unveil innovative shooting locations designed to meet contemporary film production needs. The new and re-created sets will be featured on the Universal Studios Hollywood Studio Tour - recently upgraded with a Hi-Definition TV digital system and new flat-screen HD monitors featuring commentary from filmmakers and stars, and clips from movies and TV productions corresponding to the sites visited.

Also, beginning in mid-summer, filming will resume on the world-famous Courthouse Square, Brownstone Street and an enhanced New York Street. New locations to be introduced this year include a gas station, a firehouse, a London Street and a modern urban cityscape, with glass and steel façade structures that will provide film and TV crews with the opportunity to replicate a modern city street scene in a controlled studio environment.

Admission to the Studio Tour is included with the price of theme park tickets and annual passes.
