Discover the back roads
Two states have introduced new driving itineraries to help visitors enjoy their back roads and scenic routes. West Virginia’s programmes traverse its 55 counties, highlighting some of the state’s scenic mountain roads, whilst Georgia now offers nine themed trails of discovery. Both offer a variety of natural, historical and agro-tourism opportunities.
For example, West Virginia’s Midland Trail follows a path that was taken by westward pioneers through Greenbrier Valley and the New River Gorge, whereas Georgia’s Woodpecker Trail passes by Magnolia Springs State Park and Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge.
