Continental goes flat
Continental Airlines has unveiled a new 180-degree lie-flat BusinessFirst seat for its Boeing 787, 777 and 757 aircraft. The current BusinessFirst seat only reclines to 170 degrees.
The first new seats will be seen on 777s plying the transatlantic and trans-pacific routes this autumn.
The other big selling point is the 25-inch seat width gained when the armrest is pushed flat, allowing passengers to roll over and sleep on their side. Other features include a six-way adjustable head rest, overhead reading light, a privacy shell, ‘one-touch’ controls to adjust seat back, lumbar support and leg and foot rests, more storage space, laptop power and iPod connectivity positioned over passengers’ shoulders between seats.
Seats on the 787 and 777s will have 15.4-inch video monitors while those on the 757s will have smaller, 10.6-inch monitors.
