Spring numbers point to record crop of UK visitors

UK visitor numbers to the US were up 11% in May, to 343,000, bringing the year-to-date total to 1,789,100 or +8.2% ahead of last year. If this rate of growth is maintained 2008 will become the biggest year ever for UK-USA arrivals – although the worsening economic climate that kicked in early summer might impact on this.

“Clearly the favourable exchange rate had a big impact, and combined with the very wide choice of quality holidays to a multitude of great cities and beaches, the USA becomes an unbeatable holiday destination – now demonstrated by these record numbers,” said Peter Moss, Chairman of The Visit USA Association.
